Introduction: Completing the Career Fan Slam in NYC
My family decided to take a quick weekend getaway to New York at the end of August to attend the US Open tennis tournament. Since our son is so young I thought it would be best to go to kids day in which its much more hands on and entertaining for kids that don’t have the patience to sit through a three hour tennis match!
We booked our tickets on Southwest Airlines as we have the companion pass and they fly Milwaukee to Laguardia directly. The flights cost $11.20 and 20,938 Southwest Rapid Rewards points per person. Then we just paid the additional $11.20 for our son as he was our companion. This was perfect as it allowed us to leave Friday after work and land back in Milwaukee on Sunday evening.
We stayed two nights at the Hyatt Centric Times Square as it had the most reasonable rate in a decent location. I was also have never stayed in a Hyatt Centric hotel before and was going for my Brand Explorer reward from Hyatt. The location was great for our quick stay although in hindsight we should have probably just stayed in Queens that is where the US Open tournament is held and Laguardia Airport.
The location was just down the street from Times Square so we took our son out at night to see all the lights!
On Saturday all day we spent the day at Flushing Meadows enjoying the US Open festivities! We had never been to the US Open so now I have officially been in all four grand slam main courts!
We had a fun filled day checking out the tennis and concerts.
Sunday we had a lazy day hanging out in Manhattan and Central Park before heading home. Stay tuned for the Hyatt Centric Times Square review in the next installment!
