Introduction: Maldives an Ocean Paradise

Indian Ocean

We recently returned from an amazing trip to the Maldives!  Wow this vacation was like a dream, a true paradise on earth!  Beautiful warm weather and warm turquoise water! The last four out of five years we have taken a trip around my birthday and so it was the Maldives for 2016!

We were fortunate to experience some great airlines and luxury accommodations during our vacation!  We started off flying in what is the best, most luxuriest and biggest first class suites in the skies-Etihad Apartments!!

Etihad Apartment First Class

We had an absolutely amazing flight and crew!  This is THE way to fly, folks! Please stay tuned for my review of that flight as I have tons of pictures.  I want to burn all my AA miles on future Etihad flights!

We had a 20 hour layover in Abu Dhabi which was perfect for a some relaxation and a pit stop to the Grand Mosque.  What an amazingly beautiful structure!

We redeemed the category 4 free night certificate for our one night stay at the Hyatt Capital Place in Abu Dhabi.

We departed Abu Dhabi on Etihad Business Class to Male, Maldives.

We got our first glimpse of the Maldives from the plane… WOW! Just hundreds of islands and atolls dotted throughout the ocean!

On our way to Maldives

After landing in Male, we were escorted to our hotel lounge for a bit and then we transferred to our hotel via a sea plane.

Boarding our Sea Plane to Conrad Rangali Island

After about 30-40 minutes we arrived at our resort, the Conrad Rangali Island.  We enjoyed a glorious six nights here using our Hilton points and free night certificate.

Everyday we spent time in either the pool, the ocean or both!

We loved hanging out on the beach or snorkeling or playing in the sand with our baby.

After our six nights we were sad to leave but we headed back to Male on Emirates Business Class.

After less than 48 hours in Dubai we headed back to the USA on the lovely Emirates First Class!

Emirates First Class to Dallas

We had a great flight and were super comfortable for the 15.5 hour flight! We redeemed our Alaska miles for this flight! What a steal.

We landed in Dallas sad our vacation was over!!! I booked a separate award ticket through British Airways for a ride on American Airlines to Chicago and from there we drove home.

I will be breaking down how we booked everything and our costs and reviewing everything as usual so please stay tuned for upcoming blog posts!
