Cathay Pacific’s The Wing First Class Lounge Hong Kong

Cathay Pacific’s The Wing lounge entrance

We stopped at Cathay Pacific’s largest lounge, The Wing, before our flight to Kuala Lumpur.  We visited this lounge in 2013 as well before our flight to Bali.  We figured we would grab some breakfast and relax just a bit to start our day.  We entered downstairs and they checked our boarding passes and confirmed we had access to the upstairs first class lounge.

We immediately went over to the lounge’s primary eating area, Haven, to get our breakfast.  Haven has an A La Carte menu and buffet option.

The lounge wasn’t very crowded and we were seated right away.  My wife ordered an omelet and I walked over to the buffet for my breakfast selection.  The breakfast was good and I got some Hong Kong style milk tea to wash it down.

After breakfast we went over to the main seating area.  We connected to the lounge’s wifi and my wife went through her emails and I deleted the millions of spam messages pending in moderation for this blog and started uploading some pictures.

Plenty of magazines and papers to read

I did stop over at the cabana’s to see if any were available at the time but they were all full and the lounge attendant offered to put me on the list and give me a pager for when a cabana became available.  I declined as I just wanted to photo the cabana again and our flight was leaving soon.  I instead decided to walk over to the lounge’s champagne bar and pour a glass of Veuve Cliqot.

I had the Veuve of course

After a quick stop at the restroom we were told we could start making our way to our gate which was quite far away.  When we checked the board for our flight it said “last call”!!!  I guess we enjoyed the lounge a bit too long and almost missed our flight!

This is the best lounge that I have personally been to. Complimentary everything!  I guess there are a few lounges that offer massages or cigar bars but Cathay’s The Wing hits it out of the park in our view.  Aesthetically pleasing, tasty food and a good selection of food as well.  Very solid champagne selections and tons of liquor on offer.  Strong wifi and the killer Cabana’s are the cherry on the Sunday.   Even if you only have access to the business class section of the lounge it as well is great with its own noodle station with made to order noodle selections.
