Patong Beach and Bangla Road

We decided to go into Phuket one evening and see some nightlife as a change of pace to our sleepy resort on Naka Island. We were dropped off by our driver that we had hired.  We agreed on using him for 4 hours for about $50 total.  It took about 45 minutes to get to  the heart of the action from our hotel.  We walked around a bit and took in the sights and sounds.

A shot down Bangla Road

Immediately upon entering Bangla Road we were approached for “ping pong show” which was one of the things I was looking forward to seeing 😉   however they weren’t able to convince my wife (nor was I) that it was something we should see 🙁    We were approached a few more times as we walked.  If you don’t know what a ping pong show is then perhaps its for the best!  People are soliciting for everything so best to ignore if your not interested.

We found our way over to the actual beach but it was not very busy understandably since it was pitch dark outside.  We snapped a few pictures and wandered around looking for a place to eat.

We stopped for dinner at a place that served a bit of everything so there was lots of options.  I went with a spicy Thai prawn soup type dish and my wife went safe with the pizza.

We eventually settled down at a GoGo bar to have a few drinks to kill time before meeting our driver.  We each had 2-3 cocktails while many in the bar enjoyed the dancing skills of one of the dancers!  A few lonely males found there way into the bar for a smoke, drink and I bet fingers were crossed for something else.

My wife having a drink at one of the GoGo bars! She is a brit tonight apparently!

Pick your poison at the bar

A fun night overall if you want some nightlife and some shopping as there are tons of bars and shops along Patong Beach!  You can find just about anything including a lot of massage parlors but just be careful you don’t end up with a 60 year old, bald  “ladyboy” as your masseuse (we saw this!! lol).
