Four Points Toronto Airport
When we arrived at the airport we proceeded to the American Airlines checkin counter and decided to checkin at the automated kiosks. When our boarding passes printed out we saw the boarding time showing for 2pm the next day! I thought it was maybe just a mistake so we decided to go to the counter to have them printed out correctly. Unfortunately, it was not a mistake and the counter person told us that due to bad weather in Chicago our flight was cancelled. Our plane never made it to Toronto and there were a bunch of cancelled flights on that Monday evening. The counter person did check some other routings for us but they didn’t get us home any earlier and involved connections so we passed. Now what?
Well I really didn’t want to miss another day of work which is what would happen if we waited for our 2pm flight the next day. I pondered renting a car and driving back home over night which would’ve been a 10-12 hour drive but I didnt want to incur the extra cost and dreaded the thought of driving overnight tired and having to go right in to work. We decided to simply get a hotel and take the next days flight. We originally walked across the street to the Sheraton Toronto Airport but they were charging $200 for that night and the points option was 10,000 Starwood points!! No thanks! I saw the Four Points Toronto Airport had availability and was only 4000 Starwood points-much better! We walked about 5 minutes from the Sheraton (after having dinner there) over to the Four Points.
We had the most pleasant checkin experience at a Four Points that I can ever remember!! I don’t remember her name but she was bubbly and professional and cheerfully went over all my member benefits. She seemed like she actually cared about and enjoyed her job which was nice to see. She mentioned our room (627) is on floor 6 which is the SPG floor and it was situated at the end of the hall so it would be quiet.
The room was comfortable and clean. I didn’t realize that I had booked a room with two beds. I called down to the front desk and spoke to the nice front desk lady and asked her if there are any single bed rooms available. She asked to call me back in 2 minutes while she checked the availability. There was a queen room on our floor but it was near the elevator so we decided to keep our room. The wifi was good and the beds comfy. We had a good nights sleep. The next day we laid in bed and watched TV. The water pressure was good in the bathroom. They also had complimentary toothbrushes and paste at the front desk unlike the Four Points Chicago earlier in our trip. I decided to get a quick workout in and then we decided to have lunch downstairs at their De Maple lounge. We grabbed a spot at the bar and enjoyed our lunch and wasted time on the wifi before checking out. The workout room was pretty bare bones but was empty so it did the job. The hotel pool was closed for whatever reason but I had not intended on using it anyway.
