TravelPony is a new(ish) travel site in which you can book hotel rooms at a substantial discount. The catch is sometimes you don’t save money but it almost always worth checking TravelPony when booking a hotel room as many times they are the cheapest option!!
I have used TravelPony recently for a hotel booking and it worked great and saved me quite a bit of cash!! First off when you sign up using a referral link (here is mine) you will get a $35 travel credit which you can apply to your booking! Also recently they have had additional promo codes (I used KATE50, which I believe is expired now) which can really discount the rate! The KATE50 code was for an additional $50 off.
Lets check some examples! First up, Chicago.
The Hyatt Regency Chicago for next week April 12-13 is running $187 on TravelPony.
Lets not rely on TravelPony showing me the best rates so I checked Kayak to confirm the lowest possible rates. Kayak is showing me the lowest rate of $218 per night through Amoma.
I click thru to book the Amoma rate and see its actually $254 when you add in the taxes!!
You can see that TravelPony comes out ahead. But thats not all!! You can use your travel credit for signing up with TravelPony to knock the rate down even further! The rate was $218 though TravelPony now subtract $35 and if you use an additional discount code the price falls even further. It might make sense to follow them on twitter to see if they announce any other discount codes!
One more example, this time in Miami. This time lets do a luxury property!
Next weekend April 12-13 at the Mandarin Oriental Miami. Going straight to the Mandarin Oriental’s website you will find the best available rate of $499 not including taxes!
Let me see what TravelPony has on offer for the same room. Checking TravelPony’s rates we get a rate of $361 per night or $408 with taxes! Wow, about a $140 a night difference in the rate!!!!
Lets really make sure there isn’t an even lower rate out there by checking Kayak. Kayak shows a best possible rate of $499. It appears once again that TravelPony wins out here.
Use your $35 promo travel credit to knock the rate down even futher. If you sign up through my referral link (or anyone else’s) you get $35 (and I would get $25 travel credit) however if you just signup directly through TravelPony you only get $25.
I hope this helps some of you save some money on your hotel stays!! I am not sure how TravelPony can keep their rates so much lower!? I know that they claim to save money on advertising by promoting through word of mouth and customer referrals. We have a hotel stay in August in which we saved $85 per night!!! I will detail that when I take the trip and I hope all goes well.
(If any of you end up using my referral link please know that it is much appreciated!)
