FLASHBACK TRIP REPORT!
Food and Drink of Kauai
Bubba’s was our first stop off the plane for a bite to eat! I had this written down with a few other places that I wanted to try so if we happen to be by it why not stop in?! Really good burgers, onion rings and shakes!! We were hungry so our meals didn’t last long. It was a good treat after spending 10 hours + traveling to get to Kauai. We ran into Bubba’s on the way to the Sheraton in Poipu. We ended up eating at Bubba’s twice!
Savage Shrimp is located in Poipu close the Grand Hyatt and is located in an outdoor shopping center. We stopped in for dinner one night for a quick bite. I got the coconut shrimp and my wife got the garlic shrimp. The food was good but not amazing, we had better shrimp on the vacation so I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here again but overall it was indeed solid.
Shrimp Station was our favorite shrimp spot in Kauai. Get the coconut shrimp!! Nuf said!
Wake Up Cafe
In Hanalei near the St. Regis is the Wake Up Cafe. We loved going into Hanalei its such a nice cozy, sleepy beach town. We stopped at the Wake Up Cafe for breakfast one day. Our breakfast was very good but not great. The Hawaiian cinnamon bread was good. It was busy when we arrived and had to wait just a few minutes for them to clear a table for us. Service was good and its nice to have a nice breakfast outside of the hotel every so often. We would eat here again due to good food, good price and good location (love Hanalei).
We stopped at the Beach House Restaurant for our first real meal after our food poisoning. It was nice to be able to eat a good, normal meal again after two days!! This place has a great location working for it, right on the beach on the south side of the island somewhat close to the Grand Hyatt. The food was flavorful and we enjoyed our lunch and this is a spot we would stop back at again especially to enjoy the views. There is a great snorkel spot right near by and we went for a quick swim after our meal to see the sea life.
The Beach House exterior
On our last day in Kauai we stopped for lunch at Common Ground after checking out of the Westin Princeville. The establishment is known for its fresh locally sourced ingredients. Most all the food is grown in the garden onsite and the meat is from the island. We went with the chicken nachos which we enjoyed. We would like to go back and try some different items on the menu next time.
There are lots of great spots to grab a bite in Kauai and we got to experience just a few of them! Cant wait to go back and try some more!
