Hanging out in the Villages (Food and Drink)
After meeting up with the rest of the family already in Orlando we went to check out The Villages which is a golf community/city about a one hour drive from Orlando.
We did what Wisconsinites do best…….went for a drink 🙂
World of Beer
We stopped at World of Beer to see the selection. We were told they have 400 beers on offer so we were curious to check it out.
We all enjoyed our selections and had some time out on the patio to shoot the breeze. World of beer is a chain so you may even have one in your area. If your looking for a hard to get beer or maybe a rare beer you have had overseas this is a good spot to stop and check out.
Little Joey’s II
We stopped for dinner at Little Joeys one night for some italian food. This is a popular establishment in The Villages and when we arrived there was a bit of a wait to be seated. We ended up bellying up to the bar for some wine and beer while waiting for our seat. They didn’t have enough clean wine glasses at the time so we had to wait a few minutes for that as well. Once seated in a nice big booth we had a chance to look at the menu. They have a good selection of food and some really tasty sounding specials on our visit.
We had two loaves of good italian bread, soup or salad, our well made entrees and my wife and I shared a carafe of Lambrusco. The meals were really good and I can see why it was so busy.
This is a place worth checking out in my opinion and I would like to go back to try some of their other offerings.
On Super Bowl Sunday we stopped for some drinks before the big game. Our first stop was Gator Joe’s. Gator Joe’s is a long running popular bar in the Ocala area. Its nice because its right on the lake and has a good beachfront location. Its a very big biker bar, often time you will see several Harley’s parked our front. They had live music out back on the deck and there is a good vibe there.
We ordered an appetizer of gator tail and hung out for an hour or so before departing. We visited Gator Joe’s last year too and enjoyed it.
We weren’t done yet! We thought we were driving back home but we came across Eaton’s Beach and decided to stop in since its a new bar on the other side of the lake.
We came in upstairs and had a look around. We bumped into the GM who was a nice guy and we had a chat about the establishment and he mentioned they’ve been open 2-3 months and that they’re doing the music and Bloody Mary bar downstairs. He mentioned the owner is a Packer fan and was in the military and decided to open a bar.
I got the hottest Bloody Mary mix you could get since I like spicy food and he said only two people have been able to handle the hot stuff but to me it wasn’t that hot honestly. I put a few shrimp, olives and a green bean in my bloody and called it a day. The mix is Jimmy Luv’s and they are importing it from Minnesota they said.
Bloody Mary bar
I personally really liked this place as it had way more outside and deck seating than Gator Joe’s. This is a great spot to grab a cocktail or two and enjoy the lake and the views!
We finally called it quits and went home to gear up for the Super Bowl. We enjoyed some very nice dining establishments during our quick weekend in The Villages.
